with the Iowa Afterschool Alliance

Afterschool programs often depend on the valuable contributions of members of the community. Below are a few ways that you can be involved in afterschool programs near you.

Become a Member

Our members are the backbone of the effort to expand afterschool programming to all Iowa children, youth, and families. Members of the Iowa Afterschool Alliance receive the following benefits of membership:

  • Participation in IAA work groups
  • Monthly IAA e-newsletter
  • First to hear of professional development opportunities
  • Invitations to IAA advocacy and other statewide events
Best of all: membership is free!

Contact Michelle Rich today to learn more about the benefits of becoming an IAA member!

Become an Advocate

The IAA believes that your voice is the most effective in communicating the need and demand for afterschool programs in communities across Iowa. Advocacy occurs on the community, city, county, statewide, and national levels. Become an advocate for afterschool programs and the children and youth they serve – local voices carry the farthest. Contact Michelle Rich with the IAA today to learn more!

Become a Partner

Partnerships are vital to the work of the Iowa Afterschool Alliance and its partner organizations. Together we can ensure that all Iowa children, youth, and families have access to high quality afterschool programs. Contact Michelle Rich today for more information.

Become a Volunteer

Volunteering in an afterschool program can take many forms: from volunteering to tutor students during the week, to spending a few hours on a weekend to staff a field trip, to offering your facilities for a program activity. Volunteers are invaluable to afterschool programs looking to serve students with limited budgets. Contact your local afterschool program today to offer your time or expertise!

Become a Mentor

Positive adult relationships have been found to have a significant impact on the lives of young people. Many afterschool programs offer mentoring as a component of their programming. Contact the Iowa Mentoring Partnership for more information on how you can become a mentor today.
